Matchups

The Alamo field will be divided into two brackets - the Alamo Legends bracket, and the Texians bracket. The Alamo Legends Bracket is open to the first thirty-two (32) people signed up and paid for it. These players will be seeded (see below), and matched up in a single elimination tournament to determine the one true master of the Alamo! As players lose games in the Alamo Legends Bracket, they will fall down into the Texians bracket, where every other award will be determined.

Seeding

Prior to the event, players in both brackets will be sent a list of players in the Alamo Legends Bracket, their region, and which army they will be playing. Players are requested to rank these players in whatever order they choose, and return them to the TO. These rankings will be used to determine the overall seedings, which will be revealed on a live stream two weeks before the event (and well after lists are due).

As a player, you do NOT have to return this ranking (though we'd appreciate if you did). You don't have to rank all 32 - you can just give us your top 15 if you want. The goal is to get a list of how good every player is from the people who know them best - the other players! We don't want to do this one by committee - too much responsibility!

Army Restrictions

  • Army Size: 2500 points
  • All models must represent what they are supposed to be according to the rules they are being used under, and what you see should be what you get.
  • Miniatures need not be produced by any particular corporation.
  • Miniatures do not need to be painted, but every miniature needs to be fully assembled with all of the appropriate pieces and properly based. (Remember that painting will be judged and contribute to the overall score)
  • Units must meet the minimum number of models as specified in the Kings of War rulebook.
  • Units under the recommended number of models may take a slight paint penalty, unless done in conformance to the Rule of Cool.
  • Copies of your army list MUST be available for your opponent's review at the start of the game.

Army Selection Rules

  • Up to 25% allies allowed
  • Allies may not be given magical items
  • Legendary Characters will be allowed

Tournament Rerolls

One of the traditions of the Alamo is the sale of a reroll token, which may be used to allow the reroll of a single d6, once per game. In the Alamo Legends bracket, this reroll may only be used on Saturday; in the Texian bracket it may also be used on Sunday. Reroll tokens may be purchased for $10, and every cent donated for them goes to Extra Life, benefitting the Children's Hospital of San Antonio. You can read more about our Extra Life fundraising efforts here. As of Alamo 2024, the Alamo GT has raised $6,595 for the Children's Hospital of San Antonio, including $1,465 in 2024!

Bracket Challenge

As one of the fundraising elements we do for Extra Life, we allow players to build their own bracket, predicting the winners and losers of each game, and awarding a prize to the winner. Submitting a bracket costs $10, and the prize pool is split between the winner and Extra life! You do not have to be present to win; the bracket will be published on this website, and as long as you submit your picks (and the entry fee) prior to games beginning on Saturday morning, you're good to go! This prize pool is supported by Knights of Columbus Council #13572, who has graciously allowed us to use one of their annual "50/50 contest" fundraising allocations for the year. USAA also matches 100% of the funds we raise for the weekend, so if you play a bracket, you've donated $10 to help heal kids!
